Frequently Asked Questions

How do I find my Division Number? +

Your Division Number is your "Part Number" (भाग संख्या) on your Voter ID Card (EPIC Card). Look at your voter ID and find the field labeled "Part No" - this is your Division Number. If you don't have your card, visit voters.eci.gov.in to check your voter details online.

How do I check if my name is in the voter list? +

You can check the electoral roll online at voters.eci.gov.in or visit your local polling booth with an ID proof. The electoral roll has been finalized and released. You can also search by your name, Aadhaar number, or Voter ID number on the official Election Commission website.

I moved to Anna Nagar recently. Can I vote here? +

To vote in Anna Nagar, your name must be on the electoral roll for the constituency. If you moved here at least 3 months before the final cutoff date, you could have registered. If you missed the deadline, you can still register for future elections. Visit the District Collector's office with proof of residency (electricity bill, rent agreement, etc.) to understand your eligibility.

What if I lost my Voter ID card? +

No problem! You don't need your Voter ID card to vote. You can use any other valid photo ID from the approved list: Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Electricity Bill, Bank Passbook, etc. Bring any one of these documents to your polling booth and you can vote normally.

What time should I go to avoid long queues? +

Early morning (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM) and late evening (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM) are usually less crowded. Mid-day (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM) may have fewer voters. However, even with queues, you will be able to vote. Come whenever it's convenient for you. Each booth is set up to handle thousands of voters throughout the day.

Can I bring my phone inside the polling booth? +

No. Mobile phones are not allowed inside the polling area. This ensures voting secrecy and prevents disturbances. You must keep your phone in a designated area before entering the booth. This is a standard rule to maintain the integrity of the election process. Photography and video recording are strictly prohibited in the polling area.

What is the NOTA option? +

NOTA stands for "None Of The Above". If you don't want to vote for any candidate, you can press the NOTA button on the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine). This is your right as a voter. Your NOTA vote is recorded and counted separately. It shows the Election Commission how many voters reject all candidates.

What happens if I reach the booth after 6:00 PM? +

Voting strictly ends at 6:00 PM. However, if you are already standing in the queue before 6:00 PM, you will be allowed to vote even if the actual voting time extends slightly beyond 6:00 PM. If you arrive after 6:00 PM and there's no queue, you unfortunately cannot vote. Plan to arrive well before the closing time.
